Leaf

Poem Text Below:

On Monday I found a leaf

I didn’t expect to notice it as there’s so many on the ground this time of year

But it caught my eye

Its color reminded me of pumpkin pie

And I thought it looked neat

I kept it

And I showed it off to everyone… and they agreed, it was a neat leaf

The next day I kept my head down

And I found another leaf

But this time I was looking for one

it was bright red like a fresh cranberry

I put it in my pocket for safe keeping

Today, I had a break during class

My friends and I walked to the quad

And I asked them to look for leaves

We found so many

There was one still on the branch that was turning red at the tips

One that was bright red with a wee bit of orange near the stem

And Another one deep red like a cherry

I kept them all

I put two of them in the front pocket of my jean jacket

And one in my hair like a flower

I hope that tomorrow I will find a new leaf
